Klein Karoo Klassique an Enchanting Music Fest

Klein Karoo Klassique

When there is snow on the mountains of the Klein Karoo it signals not only that winter is here in full glory, but it also marks the start of the crown jewel of classical music festivals: the Klein Karoo Klassique. August brings with it string quartets and the South Cape Youth Choir; a celebration of the works of famous composers rendered by the crème de la crème of our classical muso’s. There are performances like ‘Harmony of serenity’, an ode to the life and music of Arvo Part (with pianist Megan-Geoffrey Prins, cellist Peter Martens and violinist Suzanne Martens). ‘Bach For Breakfast’ is performed by Peter Martins, a South African/Belgium cellist who is also the Principal Cellist for the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Most of the performances provide opportunity for interaction with the artists afterwards.

If classical music describes your ideal evening out, then make your way to Webticket and secure your place for a sensory bouquet of sounds and beauty.

If you are visiting the Klein Karoo, why not stay in one of the warm and friendly establishments? De Zeekoe is closer to town, or if you would like to be on the doorstep of the Swartberg mountains with their snowcapped peaks, Wildehondekloof is the answer. Here you can lie in and hear the river run past the lodge, or take a game drive to see the newest addition to our family: a baby giraffe that joined us at the end of June. Whatever you decide, be sure not to miss out on this festival in August.
