Absa Calitzdorp Port and Wine Festival 2014

This year’s Calitzdorp Festival (14 – 15 June 2014) is promised to be a great success with a variety of stalls, a gourmet street market and of course abundance of different ports and wines to taste and enjoy. 

Apart from that, there will also be some culinary demonstrations from celebrity chefs like Francois Ferreira and Huiskok Errieda du Toit and Kokkedoor contestants.

There will be formal tastings, led by expert panels opposing some of the finest Portugese ports and wines against their South African equivalents.

The mysterious dining experience of the Secret Suppers with guests treated to a fine dining evening by celebrity chefs.

The historic Calitzdorp train station will host the local Klein Karoo cellars’ wine tastings and sales as well as the vintage tractor- and car display, live music and children’s entertainment.

There will be some interesting food and wine pairings involving chocolates, brownies, cheeses and biltong at the cellars. Imagine a brownie and port tasting combination.

Go “cellar crawling” with a tractor or join the guided historic meander through the village or an “arty stroll” to the various art galleries.

And to burn all those unwanted brownie calories, there will be a mountain bike race and a good old fashioned Barn Dance to get the blood flowing for the cold winter nights.
